Our Philosophy

At A1KIDS we aim to provide:
A learning environment that is warm, accepting, and welcoming to all.
A developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum which encourages children to explore and participate in a full range of activities through interaction with adults and other children and to develop an enthusiasm for learning through play – the natural activity of childhood.
Every opportunity for all children to develop to their fullest potential, their emotional, physical, intellectual and social skills and adhere to the principles and strands of Te Whariki, the early childhood curriculum.
An environment where opportunities to learn are not limited by ethnicity, ability, age or gender and where children develop an awareness of our society’s cultural diversity.
An environment and curriculum which recognises the unique place of Maori as tangata whenua, giving children the opportunity to develop knowledge and an understanding of the cultural heritage of both parties to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Teachers reflect this in practice by ensuring programs include tikanga me ona Te Reo Maori (Maori custom and language). We are committed to valuing each child’s individuality and to develop programs, which express this.
A qualified teaching team who are committed to ongoing professional development.
An open environment in which families are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of our centre, supporting our commitment to partnership with family and whanau in the interest of their children.
Open communication and positive staff-parent relationships within the centre while respecting confidentiality.
An environment that accepts children with special needs, providing support for them and their family.
Our staff has a strong commitment to provide the highest quality of care and education within our centre.
